Being a (Happy) Mom

“Being a mom is the most challenging, but rewarding job ever” we all heard that one, right?

Well, sometimes it is also the most frustrating experience. It’s okay to admit it! So, Here’s the truth: Being a parent to young children is hard. We are getting so exhausted sometimes that all we wanna do is get into the bathroom, close the door behind, curl up in the corner, preferably covered by a towel and pray for our strength back.

So, the good news is that you really don’t have to be hiding in the bathroom! According to our experience and some consulting and readings, some simple things might just help.
There’s nothing sophisticated here just plain tips we gathered after too many exhausted moments.

And Our Tips Are…

So, without further ado, here are our top tips to be a happy mom:

1.      Ask for help

It’s really okay to ask for some help. You don’t have to do it all alone. Ask for someone to give you a hand, to allow you some time alone, to talk to, to consult with. You are sooo entitled to some help although you are a superwoman ?

2.      Think about yourself!

That’s right, girl. There’s a direct link between your health and the long-term health of your baby. It’s a scientifically based claim! So, make sure you don’t skip meals or sleep (all house chores will wait for you. That’s also a scientific fact) and drink a lot! Breastfeeding or not, you should drink enough (water!).

Remember we previously noted that some help allows you to have some time for yourself? Well, this free time is for you to do some walking, cycling, yoga or whatever makes you on the move.

3.      Accept the fact that you are not perfect

Nobody is. You are doing the best you can, so give yourself some love and appreciation. You deserve it! It’s okay to make mistakes, it’s okay not to accomplish all the things you wanted to do today, everything is okay, and you are doing just fine! And you know what? Your baby will see you as a human, not a flawless robot, a loving human that’s doing the best and sometimes makes some mistakes.

And one last thing which is more personal is Mindfulness.
So, our 4th tip on how to be a happy mom is actually just be.
Without getting into the details, the bottom line is being present at the present moment. It can be self-trained just to pause and allow some space for ‘being’ instead of ‘doing’.
By doing that we try to stop chasing the next item on our to-do list or wish time will pass and there will be some quiet around… but instead start to pay more attention to what is happening right now.
Suddenly you appreciate EVERYTHING much more! You experience it and engage with it a whole lot better.
